How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has been an essential resource throughout my career, particularly for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and high-quality patient education.
As an Allied member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I use OrthoInfo on a daily basis, both as printed handouts for home strengthening programs and as a tool to help patients better understand their diagnoses. I also frequently direct surgical patients to the website to better prepare for their upcoming procedure.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I received was from a preceptor in PA school. He taught me to treat every patient with grace. We often first meet our patients when they are in pain, scared, or facing uncertainty. How we show up for them matters as much as the care we provide.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I start each week by creating a prioritized to-do list to stay organized, and I look ahead at my clinic schedule to pre-chart as much as possible before clinic.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I'm currently trying to make stretching a daily habit, especially after long days in the OR. I encourage my patients to do it, and it's a good reminder to practice what I preach.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through fitness classes, spending time in nature, hiking, and adventuring with my family.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
In college, I worked for a catering and event planning company and loved every aspect of it. Had I not gone to PA school, I likely would have pursued a career in the hospitality industry.
