How has the AAOS helped you during residency?
The AAOS has greatly contributed to my development as a resident. Its wide range of webinars and the Resident Orthopaedic Core Knowledge program are invaluable tools in orthopaedic training. Being part of such a prestigious organization is a significant asset for the professional growth of any orthopaedic surgeon.
As an International Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
Among all the resources that have been most helpful to me, I must highlight the ROCK program. Its concise summaries of various topics greatly enhance my understanding and retention of key concepts. Along with JAAOS, the webinars, and the Orthopaedic Video Theater, these are essential tools that every resident should utilize. I would also like to mention the AAOS Member App, which significantly facilitates access to all these resources.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
“Talent is not bestowed; find out how to get yours.” This quote from Christopher S. Ahmad’s book inspired me to stay focused and work hard throughout my residency.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
My productivity strategy involves planning the following day in advance, avoiding procrastination, and addressing tasks immediately. I make an effort to eliminate time wasting habits and stay focused on my long-term goals.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I’m working to make effective rest and regular exercise a part of my daily routine.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I have a few professional mixed martial arts fights under my belt; it’s a sport I’ve practiced since I was a kid. When I’m not at the hospital or studying, I’m training at the gym.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I have over 10 professional mixed martial arts fights, along with several Muay Thai and Greco-Roman wrestling competitions. Contact sports are one of my greatest passion.
