Registered Disaster Responder Information

Three types of Registered Disaster Responders are recognized.

  • Type I: Trauma Trained Surge Responder
    Type I Responders will have an active practice and extensive experience in complex orthopaedic trauma. They will typically be fellowship trained and/or serve as faculty or staff at a Level I trauma facility. Type I Responders will serve in the immediate surge of response.
  • Type II: Acute Phase Responder
    Type II Responders may or may not have been trauma fellowship trained or have an active practice dedicated to orthopaedic trauma. Type II Responders will serve after the initial surge, but still in the acute phases of disaster response.
  • Type III: Sustaining Phase Responder
    Type III Responders may or may not have been trauma fellowship trained or have an active practice dedicated to orthopaedic trauma. Type III surgeons will serve during the recovery phase of the disaster.
