Surprise Billing

Recently, the House Energy & Commerce Committee  passed the "No Surprises Act" to address unexpected out-of-network medical bills. While the passed version now contains an independent dispute resolution process, arbiters are unable to consider charges and can only consider rates.

The AAOS has been very active on this issue and is working to advance a solution that maintains specialty access and protects patients while preserving your ability to fairly negotiate with insurers. As other House and Senate Committees continue with their own legislative proposals, help us advocate for a federal solution that protects both physicians’ ability to fairly negotiate and patient access.
