How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has helped me with evidence-based CME to help me in daily practice.
As an Allied member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I currently use CME webinars on a regular basis for clinical pearls. The webinar format works well for my work/personal schedules.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice from a practicing orthopaedic surgeon over 25 years ago as I was finishing PA training was - "Each patient you see will likely be complaining of pain - 'my knee hurts, my shoulder hurts, etc'. That can be depressing over a period of many years, so do things that you find invigorating to avoid burnout."
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
My go-to productivity trick - Each work day I make a list of tasks on my phone that need accomplishing that day. That helps me stay focused.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I'm currently trying to focus on not overextending myself physically, emotionally, or spiritually to avoid burnout. This ties in with the best advice I have received.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Hobbies - tennis, basketball, gardening, genealogy, spoiling my 4 grandchildren.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
A fun fact - my high school geometry teacher is surprised that I made something of myself!
