The AAOS Coding Coverage and Reimbursement Committee (CCRC) regularly hosts webinars to support AAOS members in staying compliant with coding requirements and maximizing their reimbursement. Read on to learn about an upcoming webinar, as well as a webinar recording that may be beneficial for orthopaedic practice.

Webinar recording: Osteoporosis Fracture Care Counseling Coding
On Aug. 12, CCRC member Noah Raizman, MD, FAAOS, and Health Care Systems Committee (HCSC) member Eric Swart, MD, hosted a webinar on optimizing reimbursement for osteoporosis counseling.
The importance of improving the delivery of osteoporosis care and fracture-prevention counseling to patients is clear. However, the time involved in counseling patients has previously not been accounted for or reimbursed separately. CCRC and HCSC have identified how to capture the work involved in these services and optimize reimbursement with the use of existing CPT codes, as well as improve delivery of osteoporosis care and fracture-prevention counseling.
The aim of this coding method is to align incentives for physicians to have explicit conversations with patients about osteoporosis care and to document those conversations as well as create digital markers for patients who are at risk for future fractures.
