The Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) Specialty Day will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday in Room 29ABCD.
OTA Specialty Day is an excellent opportunity to stay informed about the latest advancements in orthopaedic trauma. This year’s agenda covers a broad range of topics, including adolescent fractures and pediatric emergencies in collaboration with the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), as well as new innovations in trauma care. Specific POSNA topics include compartment syndrome, presented by Joshua Abzug, MD, FAAOS, and adolescent clavicle fractures, presented by Norman Ward III, MD, FAAOS, among others.
Attendees will gain insights into evidence-based treatment strategies, practice-changing research, and novel surgical techniques during the session “Practice-Changing Papers You Might Not Have Heard Of.” The session “Orthopaedic Trauma Advances in the Pipeline” will highlight emerging technologies such as next-generation sequencing for infection biomarkers, presented by Roman Natoli, MD, PhD, FAAOS, and 3D-printed implants, presented by Arjun Srinath, MD, FAAOS. Each session will offer interactive discussions led by experts in the field, who will provide practical knowledge and encourage the exchange of best practices that can directly inform clinical decision making.
Beyond the scientific sessions, OTA Specialty Day offers an opportunity to connect with peers and leaders in orthopaedic trauma. The OTA chair’s Choice Papers session will feature some of the most impactful research from the past year that was selected at the OTA 2024 Annual Meeting, as well as highlight the prestigious Resident Memorial and Bovill Award winners. Specialty Day will conclude with a novel session featuring a Future OTA Presidents panel. The future OTA presidential line will provide perspectives on the organization’s evolving priorities in the coming years.
Whether you are looking to refine your surgical approach, explore the latest research, or engage with colleagues, OTA/POSNA Specialty Day is a valuable event that can contribute to professional growth and improved patient care.
Registration is open through the week of the AAOS Annual Meeting. Upon visiting the AAOS registration booth, you will need to present your badge to OTA staff outside of Room 29ABCD in order to be scanned and allowed entry.
