Launched in early 2018, the one-year fellowship is designed to encourage orthopaedic residents to participate in the national health policy arena and ultimately become lifelong advocates of the profession. “The fellowship is an unprecedented opportunity for residents to learn firsthand about the importance of advocacy in orthopaedic life,” explained Stuart L.

Andrew R. Jensen, MD, MBE; Musiliu Odunola, MB, MPH; Faseeh Shahab, MD; Nicholas Bonazza, MD; Christian Carrwik, MD; Verena Schreiber-Frank, MD; Kevin J. Cronin, MD

Most of a patient’s surgical risks are present before we make the decision to operate.

    David A. Halsey, MD

When I stood in front of the membership during the AAOS 2018 Annual Meeting in New Orleans and outlined the Board of Directors’ goals for the year ahead, I had complete confidence that the combination of strong leadership, dedicated member volunteers, and talented staff would fulfill the Board’s aggressive agenda. And I was correct.

  • Learn How to Safely Use Humor to Improve Your Practice

    Christopher Chiodo, MD

We all like to laugh. Whether breaking up a long meeting or brightening a lunchtime discussion, a well-timed joke or witty comment makes us feel good. In the office setting, a patient encounter enhanced by a shared laugh brings warmth and authenticity to the patient-doctor relationship. For centuries, philosophers and social scientists have tried to understand what makes us laugh.
