Instructional Course Lectures

Comprised of didactic lectures and audience discussion, ICLs represent the tried and true in orthopaedics. ICLs present accepted principles and techniques, evidence-based practices, and often include pearls and pitfalls of procedures.

Case Presentation ICLs are small, roundtable-format sessions where four to eight cases are discussed per course. After each case is presented by the moderator, faculty members facilitate discussion at their tables and aid in formulating a treatment plan. Each table then presents their proposed solution. Finally, the moderator presents the actual treatment and outcomes using evidence-based data, including teaching points and references to support the selected treatment.

Technical Skills ICLs feature a 10-minute video on positioning, approach, and step-by-step technical techniques, followed by a 10-minute discussion of pearls. There are four to five topics per session, and they cover unique procedures (e.g. nail tibia) or break down complex operations into multiple sub-topics.

Panels: Unique Perspectives

AAOS 2027 will include a wide variety of panel sessions bringing together knowledgeable and focused expertise across orthopaedics and the musculoskeletal field.

Designed for topics that challenge convention or introduce novel perspectives, Symposia present cutting-edge, controversial and innovative topics. These are well-balanced and feature a blend of differing styles, techniques and management, as well as a diverse faculty.

In the Innovation Theater, you can watch live demonstrations of innovative products, services, and solutions showcased by medical and technology professionals.

In "The Way I See It…®", you can listen to the faculty's candid opinions on contemporary, controversial and top-of mind issues in orthopaedics. These sessions last approximately one hour.

Papers, Posters, and ePosters

AAOS 2027 also offers Papers, Posters, and ePosters, and you can select your preferred format.

Papers are live, four-minute podium presentations accompanied by a slide deck.

Posters are physical posters that will be displayed during the meeting. Presenters stand with their posters during designated times to participate in discussion with attendees. These posters are posted on 45- by 45-inch tackboard for browsing at any time, and all posters are also available in an ePoster version.

ePosters will be displayed at ePoster digital screen stations at AAOS 2027, as well as online. Attendees will be able to search for and view ePosters at their leisure, even after the meeting is over.
