2026 IDEA Grant Recipients
Track 1 Grants are designed to support single event programs that promote opportunity for all in orthopaedics through early exposure, mentorship, or sponsorship throughout the pathway at the pre-residency level and below.
- American Association of Latino Orthopaedic Surgeons - $12,100
- The AALOS Pathway to Residency Program provides comprehensive support to students from various backgrounds, including financial assistance, educational resources, and mentorship. Our holistic approach ensures that students have the knowledge, resources, and mentorship needed to navigate the orthopaedic surgery away rotation and match process successfully.
- J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society - $16,500
- The JRGOS Orthopaedic Resident and Medical Student Research Competition will highlight research from Gladden Resident and Medical Student Members. The Residents and Medical Students will then present to their peers and established surgeons providing not only valuable feedback but also exposure to mentors at every career level.
- OPM Education Inc. (dba Nth Dimensions) - $60,000
- Nth Dimensions Medical Student Symposium (MSS) at AAOS and Summer Internship Program (AAOS-NDSI) is a unique opportunity to receive additional professional development and leadership training for students with little-to-no orthopaedic mentoring to become competitive residency applicants.
- Perry Initiative - $25,000
- The grant will be directed towards developing new orthopaedic curriculum to best reflect a broader range of the surgical techniques seen in orthopaedic surgical practice. The curriculum will be implemented in outreach programs for first and second year medical students.
- Pride Orthopaedics Inc. - $9,000
- Through this grant, Pride Ortho will support medical student attendance at the annual meeting of Pride Ortho at the 2026 AAOS Annual Meeting. Students will be able to obtain mentorship.
- Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society - $19,500
- This program will fund the attendance of medical students at AAOS and RJOS Annual Meetings. It will also provide a unique opportunity to be exposed to orthopaedic surgery and specifically network with female orthopaedic surgeons.
- Stanford University - $33,700
- Increasing competition in orthopaedic surgery residency has left many applicants unmatched, highlighting the need for targeted support and resources. This grant will provide career planning, development, and coaching for reapplicants through AAOS funding initiatives.
