OGR Working for Orthopaedic Surgeons in Washington in 2025

The Office of Government Relations is always making sure the priorities of orthopaedic surgeons are front and center with Congress and the Executive Branch. In 2025, OGR's advocacy focused on payment reform, prior authorization, physician owned hospitals, and MSK research funding. The team also improved processes to make it easier than ever for orthopaedic surgeons to connect directly with their members of Congress.

Orthopaedic Advocates Build Momentum on Capitol Hill at the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference

By actively engaging in hundreds of meetings with congressional offices—including 66 direct discussions with senators and representatives—over 250 participants worked to advance the interests of AAOS members and orthopaedic surgeons nationwide. As a result of these efforts, congressional support for AAOS priorities grew, leading to 10 new cosponsors in the House and three in the Senate for the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act. This increased advocacy directly benefits AAOS members and orthopaedic surgeons across the country by strengthening legislative backing for improved patient access and streamlined care delivery.
