Overall Purpose/Mission
Mission Statement:To strategically develop and deliver education programs, information, services and resources to assist members and their organizations in creating and improving systems that complement the delivery of affordable, quality musculoskeletal care.
Vision:The Practice Management Committee will be the recognized leader in developing resources for members on the economics and management of orthopaedic practices.
Charges
1. Align all activities to support execution and achievement of the mission, vision, goals, strategic objectives and metrics of the Strategic Plan and conduct all business in accordance with the Core Values as adopted by the Board of Directors.
2. Monitor the regulatory and business environment as it relates to practice management.
3. Based on emerging practice management trends, anticipate opportunities and challenges for orthopaedic surgeons and identify or develop innovative educational programs, tools, and resources to assist orthopaedic surgeons in the operation of their practice.
4. Lead practice management education initiatives for residents, physicians, other orthopaedic providers, office administrators and office staff.
5. Identify and develop education and resources to assist residents, Fellows and Candidate members prepare for the non-clinical demands of today's practice environment as they transition from training to practice.
6. Collaborate with third parties offering provider management products and services designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Provide recommendations regarding practice management-related topics for education initiatives including those at the Annual Meeting.
8. Work in conjunction with relevant committees, councils and Board project teams regarding practice management and health information technology issues as they pertain to effective management of orthopaedic providers.

One (1) solo practitioner
One (1) physician from a group with two (2) - nine (9) members
One (1) physician from a group with ten (10) or more members
One (1) members from academic practice settings
One (1) member from hospital employed model practice or healthcare institution
One (1) non-physician orthopaedic practice administrator
Four (4) At-Large Members
Two (2) Ex-Officio Members (with expertise in Electronic Medical Records [EMR] and Health Information Technology (HIT)
One (1) PMC member would serve as liaison to Coding, Coverage and Reimbursement Committee

Director, Electronic Media, Evaluation Programs, Course Operations and Practice Management
Term of Office
For chair, two (2) years; eligible for one (1) additional two (2) year term.
For members, two (2) years; eligible for one (1) additional two (2) year term.
For Ex-Officio members, two (2) years; not eligible for additional term.
For Practice Administrator Representative; two (2) years; eligible for (1) additional two (2) year term.
