American Joint Replacement Registry Steering Committee

Mission Statement:

Foster a national center for data collection and research on total hip and knee replacement with far-reaching benefits to society including reduced morbidity and mortality, improved patient safety, improved quality of care and medical decision-making, reduced medical spending, and advances in orthopaedic science and bioengineering.

Charges:

  • Align all activities to support execution and achievement of the mission, vision, goals, strategic objectives and metrics of the Strategic Plan and conduct all business in accordance with the Core Values as adopted by the Board of Directors
  • Improve the quality, outcomes, and costs-effectiveness of total joint replacement (TJR) surgeries through the achievement of our objectives:
    • Establish an infrastructure and a uniform system for collecting device information and monitoring outcomes of TJR throughout the United States
    • Provide clinically relevant feedback to providers that allows them to continuously improve their practice and health care outcomes using methods applicable to all practice settings
    • Reduce data reporting burdens on physicians and allow reuse of data for regulatory requirements and continuous quality improvement programs
    • Inform gaps in knowledge and define areas for further education and research
    • Establish practices for benchmarking clinical performance, comparative clinical effectiveness, development of predictive models for outcomes of care, informing practice guidelines, reporting performance measures and defining quality

  • For members-at-large, two (3) years; eligible for one (1) additional two (3) year term.
  • For representatives and liaisons, two (2) years; eligible for reappointment as recommended by the society/organization.
