Mission Statement:
The American Spine Registry (ASR) stands as a collaborative endeavor between the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), drawing upon the wealth of resources and expertise from both esteemed organizations. ASR represents a sweeping initiative designed to engage all spine surgeons across the United States within a unified data-collection platform. Our overarching objective is to enhance outcomes in spine care through comprehensive research in musculoskeletal care. The ramifications of our work extend far and wide, promising a multitude of societal benefits including diminished morbidity and mortality rates, heightened patient safety measures, elevated standards of care and medical decision-making, reduced healthcare expenditures, and advancements in the realms of orthopaedic science and bioengineering.
Charges:
- Improve the quality, outcomes, and cost-effectiveness of musculoskeletal and neurosurgical surgeries through the achievement of our objectives.
- Establish an infrastructure and a uniform system for collecting device information and monitoring outcomes of musculoskeletal procedures throughout the United States.
- Provide clinically relevant feedback to providers that allows them to continuously improve their practice and health care outcomes using methods applicable to all practice settings.
- Reduce data reporting burdens on physicians and allow reuse of data for regulatory requirements and continuous quality improvement programs.
- Inform gaps in knowledge and define areas for further education and research.
- Establish practices for benchmarking clinical performance, comparative clinical effectiveness, development of predictive models for outcomes of care, informing practice guidelines, reporting performance measures and defining quality.
