Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal infections, including host immune response, biofilm formation, and factors contributing to infection persistence.

  • Apply evidence-based diagnostic strategies, integrating clinical evaluation, laboratory testing, imaging, and biopsy/culture techniques.

  • Implement current treatment approaches, including antimicrobial therapy, surgical interventions (e.g., debridement, implant removal), and local or adjuvant therapies to optimize outcomes.

  • Manage complications and prevent recurrence, utilizing interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered strategies to improve overall care.
