AAOS Fundamentals of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty for Orthopaedic Residents
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Identify surgical anatomy as it relates to arthroplasty of the hip and knee
- Combine clinical and radiographic information in pre-operative planning and templating of hip and knee arthroplasty
- Perform primary and extensile approaches in hip and knee arthroplasty
- Formulate strategies for intraoperative decision-making for releasing contractures, maximizing motion and retaining stability of the arthroplasty
- Prevent, diagnose, and treat common postoperative complications following primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasty
- Understand fixation and reconstruction concepts in revision total hip and knee arthroplasty
