AAOS Fundamentals of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty for Orthopaedic Residents

Objectives & CME Credits

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Identify surgical anatomy as it relates to arthroplasty of the hip and knee
  • Combine clinical and radiographic information in pre-operative planning and templating of hip and knee arthroplasty
  • Perform primary and extensile approaches in hip and knee arthroplasty
  • Formulate strategies for intraoperative decision-making for releasing contractures, maximizing motion and retaining stability of the arthroplasty
  • Prevent, diagnose, and treat common postoperative complications following primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasty
  • Understand fixation and reconstruction concepts in revision total hip and knee arthroplasty
