What is AAOS Launchpad?
The AAOS Launchpad is an exclusive pilot program designed to support PGY5 AAOS resident members as they transition from residency to fellowship and ultimately into practice, including preparation for Boards Part II. Spanning approximately 20 months, this immersive experience combines both in-person and virtual components, offering participants, called Crew Members, personalized guidance through access to expert coaches, called Crew Chiefs, who provide near-peer mentorship. As a pilot initiative, the program will be fine-tuned and evolve based on ongoing feedback from PGY5 participants throughout their experience.
Who can apply as a Crew Member?
This program is only available to PGY5 residents enrolled in a U.S.-based residency program. Strong preference will be given to applicants who can attend the AAOS Annual Meeting (including associated costs).
Who is not qualified?
Non-members, members who are not in their 5th year of residency, suspended members, members outside of the U.S.
Is the AAOS Launchpad program a member benefit?
Yes – the program itself is FREE (costs associated with attending the Annual Meeting or select educational events are the responsibility of the participant). Participating in the program gives PGY5 residents exclusive access to an experience that helps you:
- Get the most out of the AAOS Annual Meeting with special events, a curated schedule, and an exclusive lounge space to connect and relax with peers.
- Build confidence in preparing for the Part II ABOS Exam.
- Take part in hands-on opportunities to enhance your fellowship journey.
- Utilize curated resources at each milestone in your professional development.
- Engage with a cohort of peers and expert coaches to expand and strengthen your network.

STEP 3: Arrive at Annual Meeting and check-in at the on-site AAOS Launchpad Lounge to receive your schedule of events and programming, including an exclusive Launchpad Reception!
STEP 4: Post-Annual Meeting, look-out for an email with instructions to access the AAOS Launchpad Dashboard, a guided one-stop shop for the tools you need to be successful as you navigate the end of your residency into fellowship and practice.
