How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The AAOS has always provided me with resources that have helped me improve my knowledge and skills. The AAOS has been a foundational pillar from my early years in practice to my current role overseeing residents and clinical operations. It has provided the continuous education and networking necessary to transition from constantly striving to improve clinical skills to partaking in academic and research initiatives. The academy keeps me updated on evidence-based orthopaedic surgery guidelines, enabling safe practice and mentoring future surgeons.
As an Affiliate Orthopaedic Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I consistently lean on the Clinical Practice Guidelines and JAAOS. When managing research projects or preparing residents for their rotations, having access to vetted, high-yield information is invaluable. I prioritize clear data visualization in my work, so I particularly appreciate AAOS resources that distill complex research into easily digestible tables, charts, and summary posters for quick, accurate knowledge transfer. I have also used AAOS educational resources and test questions to prepare and pass my Part 1 ABOS exam.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
A fellowship mentor once advised me, “Do your last surgery first.” This guidance, which I still value in my practice, wasn't about being overly aggressive surgically, but about tailoring care and patient counseling to ensure the initial treatment option is truly best for each individual over the long term.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I firmly believe in thorough preparation, especially in surgical planning by anticipating possible complications and backup strategies. I believe establishing standardized processes and developing team models through consistent practices enhances productivity.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Staying consistent with exercise has always been difficult, especially as my practice grows busier and my family expands. Achieving the right work-life balance often means exercise gets pushed aside, but I’m working to prioritize physical well-being without neglecting other responsibilities.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as well as reading.

Although I'm terribly afraid of heights, I still managed to go skydiving! Even though it was intimidating, I value stepping out of my comfort zone and taking on new challenges.
