How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
I am a newer AAOS member (as well as new to the ortho specialty) and am very excited to explore all that it has to offer. I am looking forward to attending my first annual conference and meeting fellow peers, having the opportunity to learn about advancements in the field, and seeing all the resources AAOS provides.

As an Allied member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
The video theatre has been an amazing resource. I have not been in the OR since PA school (I worked in ER/UC my first few years as a PA), so to be able to have such an expansive range of videos has been an incredibly helpful exposure to surgical techniques, equipment, and anatomy.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
Appreciate, support, and connect with the entire team that you work with. As PAs, we often work with others who have a variety of roles in medicine. I enjoy hearing different perspectives and making those connections. It helps me grow as a PA and enjoy working as one even more. This was a lesson I learned early on in my career from our program director in PA school, as she led our class in many community-based outreach programs with other students and professionals outside of the classroom.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Compartmentalizing. Focusing on one thing at a time and what is truly important in that moment and knowing when to move on to the next thing!

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Post-dinner walks. So many great health benefits!

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I'm originally from Maine, so all things outdoors – skiing, swimming, hiking. To relax, I love a good mystery thriller book or TV series.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know.
I spent a semester in college studying coral reef ecology in Bermuda. Still not sure how I was able to get credit for snorkeling and being out on a boat all day, but beyond thankful for the experience and for taking the opportunities that have come my way!
