How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS continues to provide ongoing support and information to improve the practice of local providers, practice management, and patient care. As a new member, I am excited to have these resources directly available for my own professional development and utilization in the practices I oversee.
As an Allied member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
So far, I have utilized searching through online resources for current best practices and patient education. I am looking forward to the CME opportunities to assist with increasing my orthopedic knowledge and meeting my RN requirements.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
During my nursing education, one of my clinical instructors really instilled in me that every person has a why during that moment. Finding out their why will go further in any conversation than an action could ever do. This has helped me in numerous ways to de-escalate upset patients, associates, and/or providers. This allows you to get to the root of the conversation and connect to improve the future/outcome. Context vs content.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I enjoy a good to-do list that prioritizes where my focus should be and what can be done at a later time. Also, habit trackers to ensure the day-to-day items are always completed.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and moving my body consistently.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Summer is my favorite because all of my favorite things happen then. Camping with my family, watching baseball (professional and my children), and boating.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
All of my life I have had some sort of leadership position. From cheer captain, 4-H president, college senior class president, etc.
