How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The AAOS has played a central role in my professional development from training through early faculty practice. AAOS educational programming has strengthened my clinical foundation and supported my transition to independent practice through high-quality instructional courses, evidence-based guidelines, and subspecialty-focused content that directly informs clinical decision-making. The Annual Meeting has provided an important forum for exposure to evolving techniques, scholarly exchange, and networking with leaders across orthopaedics. Collectively, these resources have supported my growth as a clinician and educator while reinforcing a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
As a Candidate Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I most frequently utilize AAOS clinical practice guidelines and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). The clinical practice guidelines provide rigorously developed, evidence-based recommendations that directly inform clinical decision-making and help ensure consistency with national standards of care. JAAOS serves as an essential resource for staying current with advances across orthopaedics, offering high-quality review articles that synthesize emerging evidence and evolving techniques in a clinically relevant format. Together, these resources support efficient, evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development during this formative stage of my career.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
My parents always taught me to treat others as you want to be treated. That means treating everyone with respect, no matter how big or small their role may appear on the outside, and putting yourself in someone else's shoes before passing judgement.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I always try to spend the last 15 minutes of the day preparing for tomorrow. This includes things like making a must-do list, packing my lunch, or laying out clothes for the next day. This makes mornings less chaotic and allows a smooth and productive start to the day.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I am trying to work out more regularly, even if it means waking up extra early.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Traveling and spending time with my husband and 18-month-old son.
