AAOS conferences and publications to stay current on orthopaedic practice
If you were mentoring a new member, what important advice would you give them as they progress in their career?
Ensure that you regularly attend Ortho Academy meetings and participate in AAOS continuing education to learn from peers and researchers. Also, ensure that you are active on the medical staff of your hospital or practice to share your knowledge.
What aspect of retirement surprised you the most?
I had not expected to retire when I did, but developed Type 1 Diabetes in my 50s, making it difficult to safely continue. While I couldn’t do surgery, I continued to see patients for a while and continued at the Amputee Clinic at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Health maintenance and physical activity to stay in shape and spending as much time with family as possible.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I skied until I was 85 years old.
