How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has provided very helpful resources throughout my training. In addition to the journal issues and online focused resources for OITE and Board preparation, I have enjoyed participating in the AAOS Resident Rumble Trivia Competition and attending the annual meeting last year.

As a Fellowship Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I utilize JAAOS to keep up with current literature. As a resident, I used a combination of resources including the ROCK curriculum to efficiently understand key components of broader topics. I also relied heavily on ResStudy during my Part 1 of Boards preparation.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
I’m grateful to have trained under J. Spence Reid in residency whose countless pieces of pertinent advice shaped my Orthopaedic training and prepared me for a fantastic experience at Carolinas Medical Center for fellowship. One humbling reminder is to remember that “nothing ruins a great case like orthogonal XR’s.”  A reminder to not get tunnel vision with the information available and to always check a lateral.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Keeping things simple and prioritizing the tasks at hand. Completion of one piece of work at a time is oftentimes more efficient than attempting multitasking. Take a break when needed.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Leaving work in the hospital and allowing the time to be present when at home or with family. This can be difficult at times, but spending the extra 30 minutes to tidy things up has helped me have a clear mind when heading home.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Kristina, family, and friends. My hobbies include running, playing basketball while avoiding weekend warrior injuries, online video games, and spending time outdoors.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
In high school, I played saxophone and was a golf caddie.
