As an International Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
The JAAOS, Techniques Journals, and the OVT really help to develop my technical skills and stay current on orthopaedic news.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The most valuable advice I ever had was to constantly work on bettering myself since there is always room for progress. This precious piece of advice that I have applied through different stages of my career came from my father, whom I regard as my idol and whose counsel I deeply cherish.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Take pleasure in your work, minimize stress and burnout by maintaining an upbeat attitude, and practice regular meditation.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Early morning exercises before going to work.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I used to play football on a regular basis. I also enjoy reading political novels.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I love dark chocolate and drinking coffee. Combining both is even better.
As a person who grew up in a multicultural environment (Ethiopian origin, born in Egypt, and now working in Germany), I am very interested in learning about other cultures. I believe that only by immersing ourselves in other cultures beyond our own can we really learn about each other.
