How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has been instrumental in my professional growth, providing access to high-quality educational resources, research updates, and global networking opportunities. The online learning platforms have allowed me to stay ahead in advanced surgical techniques, particularly in arthroplasty and arthroscopy.

As an International Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I frequently explore AAOS’s online learning products, Orthopaedic Video Theater, live & virtual courses, the Learning Innovation Lab, and webinars. These resources provide high-quality surgical videos, case-based discussions, and research-driven knowledge that keep me at the forefront of orthopedic advancements. The Orthopaedic Video Theater is my go-to for reviewing complex procedures, and live & virtual courses provide interactive learning opportunities that refine my skills. AAOS truly makes learning seamless, no matter where in the world I am.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
“Broaden your horizons” These simple yet profound words were shared with me by Prof. Rami Sorial from Sydney Australia, my mentor during Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society Women in Arthroplasty (WiA) Fellowship. This advice has shaped my journey—not just in orthopaedic surgery but in life. It pushed me to seek out global learning opportunities, embrace innovation, and challenge myself beyond my comfort zone. The best growth happens when we explore beyond what we already know. His words continue to inspire me to take on new challenges and make meaningful contributions to the field.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Balancing a demanding surgical career with personal and professional commitments is no easy task. I rely on the Eisenhower Matrix to prioritize my tasks, ensuring that I focus on what truly matters. I also dedicate uninterrupted time blocks for surgeries, patient consultations, and research. Technology plays a big role in keeping me organized, from digital patient management to surgical planning. Efficiency isn’t just about doing more, it’s about doing what matters most, better.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit of?
Prioritizing work-life balance. As a surgeon, it’s easy to get caught up in an intense schedule, but I’ve realized that being the best doctor also means being the best version of myself outside the OR. I’m consciously setting aside time for my family, personal growth, and hobbies like learning the piano. Music has become a new passion, teaching me patience and mindfulness, something that beautifully complements my surgical precision.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love immersing myself in creativity and learning. My hobbies include reading medical literature, traveling, learning the piano, and practicing calligraphy. Each of these brings a unique joy—music allows me to unwind, calligraphy helps me appreciate the art of precision, and traveling opens my mind to new cultures and perspectives. I also feel strongly about giving back, so I organize free medical camps to support underprivileged patients and serve the Christian community.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know.
I have a creative side that often surprises people! When I’m not in the OR, you’ll find me learning the piano or creating intricate calligraphy designs. These creative outlets provide a calm balance to the high-pressure environment of surgery. Interestingly, both calligraphy and surgery require a steady hand, precision, and patience—so in a way, my hobbies perfectly align with my profession!
