How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The first AAOS Annual meeting I attended was back in 1995 in Orlando. At that time I was a resident. It was an eye-opening experience and has significantly broadened my vision. Since then, AAOS has become my self-learning platform. The AAOS has been instrumental in keeping me updated with the latest advances in orthopedic science and clinical practice. The high-quality educational resources, including webinars, scientific journals, and surgical technique guides, have enriched my understanding in clinical orthopedic practice. The AAOS community also provides a valuable platform for international collaboration and exchange of ideas.
As an International Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why? Orthopedic Video Theater. This unique platform enables efficient learning of new surgical procedures. Besides, I frequently use JAAOS (The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons) and OrthoInfo. JAAOS keeps me informed of evidence-based orthopedic research and clinical innovations, which is essential for integrating regenerative strategies into orthopedic care. OrthoInfo is also a great resource for patient education, helping patients better understand their treatment options and rehabilitation process.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I received was from my mentor during my early training in London: “Always let science serve humanity, not just curiosity.” This principle has guided me in focusing my research on clinically meaningful regenerative therapies rather than purely academic exploration.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I dedicate the first hour of my workday to my most critical tasks, before checking emails or attending meetings. This deep-focus time significantly improves my productivity and creativity.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I am trying to make a habit of taking short reflection breaks during the day to pray and realign my thoughts. This helps me maintain clarity, balance, and purpose in both clinical and research work.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy hiking, reading, and writing. Hiking helps me stay active and appreciate nature, while reading and writing—especially on topics combining science and faith—keep me intellectually and spiritually inspired.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I love to sing! Music has always been a joyful way for me to relax and connect with people.
