Registries: What Happens When Orthopaedic Surgeons Own the Data?

In this episode, host Stuart J. Fischer, MD, FAAOS, welcomes Steven D. Glassman, MD, FAAOS, Co-Chair of the AAOS Registry Oversight Committee and past chair of the American Spine Registry Executive Committee, and James Huddleston III, MD, FAAOS, AAOS Registry Oversight Committee member and chair of the American Joint Replacement Registry Steering Committee, to discuss the AAOS Registries Program.

The conversation focuses on how the registries collect, analyze, and report on orthopaedic data to enhance patient care, support Evidence-Based practices, and drive quality improvement efforts across orthopaedics. Drs. Glassman and Huddleston explain how orthopaedic surgeons can best make use of registry data, offer examples of how the data has led to changes in clinical practice, share their vision for the future of the registries, and weigh in on whether there's any potential for the data to be misused.
