If you were mentoring a new member, what important advice would you give them as they progress in their career?
Patients always come first.
Be confident but not arrogant.
Have humility and ability to listen.
Treat those below you the same way as you treat those above you: With respect.
Be selfless and think about everyone you are leading. Don’t put yourself first.
Always be truthful. Never lie.
What aspect of retirement surprised you the most?
How quickly private equity took over control of medicine and finances came before “patient first.”
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Reading, gardening, and watching my grandchildren play college sports.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
My favorite pet was an orphaned squirrel that fell out a tree at one day old during a New Orleans storm. He survived by being fed with a dropper. He was named JP after Pope John Paul who was visiting New Orleans at that time. We had him as part of the family for nine years along with two dogs and six cats.
