Why did you join AAOS?
I joined AAOS to become more engaged in the orthopaedic community. As a medical student, AAOS has given me access to incredible educational resources while helping me explore the field more deeply. It has provided opportunities to learn from leaders in orthopaedics, stay current on the latest research and innovations, and connect with others who share a passion for musculoskeletal care.

What are you looking forward to most about AAOS?
I am most looking forward to being part of the AAOS community and learning from orthopaedic surgeons and fellow members. I'm excited to build meaningful relationships, find mentors, and contribute through leadership, education, and service.

What interested you about orthopaedics?
I was initially drawn to orthopaedics because sports have always been a big part of my life, and I love the idea of helping people return to the activities they love and improve their quality of life by restoring movement. During my gap year, I had the opportunity to work alongside incredible orthopaedic surgeons who became mentors. They exposed me to the breadth of the specialty and showed me the profound impact orthopaedic surgery can have on patients' lives.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
My parents always told me, "It's better to try and fail than not try at all." That advice has encouraged me to take on new challenges and pursue opportunities I might have otherwise been afraid to chase.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
To be productive, I like to set a timer on my phone to complete tasks. Time blocking helps me stay focused and avoid getting overwhelmed. Scheduling short breaks also helps me stay productive.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I'm trying to make listening to a news podcast part of my morning routine. Medical school gets busy, so it's an easy way to stay informed about current events while driving or while on a walk.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love staying active and spending time outdoors. I enjoy playing tennis, pickleball, and ping pong, as well as running, walking, and Pilates.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I spent part of my childhood in the Netherlands, so I speak English and Dutch.
