How has the AAOS helped you during residency?
Overall, AAOS is the preeminent resource for orthopaedic residents and has been essential to my development as an orthopaedic surgeon. AAOS provides quality educational resources such as JAAOS, the Orthopaedic Video Theater, various webinars, and ResStudy that have helped me tremendously during residency. Furthermore, the AAOS Annual Meeting and other events have helped me to network and connect with mentors to guide me in the pursuit of an academic career in the field. These meetings and events have provided opportunities to foster collaboration with others, particularly in research.

As a Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
AAOS Webinars and JAAOS are invaluable resources that expand my knowledge base. ResStudy has been helpful for OITE preparation. The Orthopaedic Video Theater is a resource I use for case preparation.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
One of the most important pieces of advice that I have received was to find an institution where I would feel supported; a place that would challenge me but also nurture me so that I could attain maximal growth as a budding orthopaedic surgeon. Three mentors relayed this message to me: Dr. Bonnie Simpson Mason, Dr. Esther Forrester, and Dr. Lekidelu Tadesse-Heath.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Writing out an effective to-do list and the Pomodoro technique timer! Whenever I feel like I am in a slump, I turn on some upbeat music and take a break and dance.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Reading for fun 30 minutes daily. Some days are a hit or miss, but I’m still trying!

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Traveling, spending time with my family and friends, cooking, biking local trails around Pittsburgh, and trying out new local experiences and restaurants.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I have been hit by three cars in my life; and escaped injury all three times!
