How can I sign up for the AAOS Membership Auto-Renew program?
- Login to your AAOS account.
- Click the tab at the top of the page that reads, "My Settings."
- At the bottom of the page, you will find options to change your password, username, and AutoPay settings.
Where can I find information on membership benefits and value?
- At the top of the aaos.org homepage, click the "Membership" tab.
- In the drop-down menu, select the Member Resources page.
- Select your member group to get started.
How do I become an AAOS member?
- At the top of the aaos.org homepage, click "Join AAOS" or visit the Become a Member page.
- Navigate to the appropriate member page to submit your application.
- Note: Applications for each member group are open at different times throughout the year. Check the Become a Member page to make sure we are accepting applications.
How can I find out more about the FAAOS designation?
Visit the FAAOS Designation page. For additional assistance, please contact the AAOS Service Center at 847-823-7186 or submit your questions via our Contact Us form.
How do I update my AAOS Member Profile?
- Login to your AAOS account.
- Click the tab on the top of the page that reads, "My Personal Profile."
- Fill out the necessary information.
- At the bottom of the page, click the "Save Profile Updates" button.
How do I view and/or pay my membership account balance?
- Login to your AAOS account.
- Click the tab at the top of the page that reads, "My Invoices and Receipts."
- Open invoices appear at the top of the page, along with a button to pay now.
- If you don't see the invoice you are looking for, find the "Search / View My Invoices" section at the bottom of the page.
- Use the available fields to search for an invoice name or number, or filter by date range or invoice category.
- Complete the payment information and click "Pay Now."
What are the requirements for becoming a member?
Please review the AAOS Bylaws published on our website for public consumption. Reference the appropriate membership qualification section.
Interested parties can also contact the AAOS Service Center or dial 800-626-6726 (US). Individuals calling from outside the US should call 847-823-7186.
Can the FAAOS designation also be used by Osteopathic doctors?
Osteopaths are in fact allowed—and encouraged—to use the FAAOS designation. Active Fellow “FAAOS” requirements are:
- Certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (AOBOS) or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- In exclusive practice of orthopaedic surgery in the U.S. for at least 36 months (exclusive of fellowship training) immediately prior to induction
- Maintenance of a full, unrestricted, and unlimited license to practice medicine or full-time service in the federal government
- Compliance with the AAOS Standards of Professionalism
- Complete Active Fellow Member Application
- Membership Committee and AAOS Board of Director Approval of Application
